Due to our broad client base, our workload is constantly increasing and we are looking for an Intermediate Structural Technologist to join our team environment. Working downtown in the heart of the city, close to public transit, you will be part of a company that strongly supports the development of their people by assisting them in the advancement of their careers by means of Training and Certifications. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate Structural Plan drawings, Structural Sections and Details from Architectural drawings
  • Manage Structural drafting work on various projects independently or work within a team with marginal supervision
  • Co-ordinate Structural drawings with other consultants on various projects
  • Review shop drawings of Structural elements independent on various projects
  • Review and assess content and quality of drawings
  • Monitor and manage time budgets on work performed

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong and clear communication in English, both written and verbal
  • Intermediate – minimum 5 years proven industry related experience
  • Certificate/diploma in Structural Drafting Technology from Technical Collage or Institute 
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the ASTT in British Columbia
  • At least 2 years in BC preparing Structural documents for a variety of projects
  • A strong understanding of construction assemblies in Wood, Steel, Masonry and Concrete buildings, especially with traditional Canadian Wood Frame Construction
  • Team player with proven experience in working with project teams
  • Strong AutoCAD and Structural Graphics Standards skills
  • Familiarity with Revit Structural an asset, for the possibility of expanding the company’s drafting capabilities
  • Open, willing and hungry to learn and to continue to upgrade technical knowledge and skills
  • Proven ability to conceptualize Architectural and Structural elements in three dimensions
  • Demonstrated aptitude for working with Existing Structures
  • Proven ability to understand detailing requirements based on structure type, and independently complete details to code requirements
  • Service and client/customer orientated
